WMC’s Obstetrics department garners Women’s Choice Award
FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Many women know that Williamson Medical Center is a wonderful place to have a child. Now, the WMC Obstetrics and maternity teams have been awarded some prestigious accolades for the amazing level of care given to families whose babies are born here.
Our OB and maternity teams have been named one of America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics. The Women’s Choice Award is the only evidence-based designation that identifies the country’s best hospitals based on robust criteria and what women say they want from a hospital and honors hospitals that have demonstrated exceptional service in meeting the needs of women and that receive extraordinary recommendation ratings.
All hospitals winning this award represent facilities and people who offer exceptional obstetric service which ranked above the national average for patient safety, thereby supporting a woman’s decision when choosing the best for her maternity needs.
“It is such a compliment to receive recognition from this amazing organization,” said Janet Meadows, director of perinatal nursing and NICU at Williamson Medical Center. “Our ultimate goal is to always provide a safe, happy environment, and excellent service to our patients. There are changes to healthcare on a daily basis, so the reassurance that we are providing excellent care to our patients is very rewarding to all of us. We will continue to strive to exceed the expectations that are brought to us. At the end of the day, we recognize that new babies are miracles, and being a part of the special time for our parents is the best place to be in the hospital setting. We are humbled by this honor every day.”
Delia Passi, CEO and founder of the Women’s Choice Award, said the goal of this award was to make it easy for moms to find hospitals that have proven to deliver an outstanding experience.
“New moms have many choices when it comes to having their baby, so choosing the best birthing experience is right up there with choosing the best doctor,” she said.
The America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics scoring process is unique in that it is the only national list that is evidence-based and focuses on female patient satisfaction. Awarded hospitals ranked above the national average for patient recommendations, as indicated by the data reported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys. Additional considerations included: having a NICU on-site, low rates of early elective deliveries (between 0-1%) as well as ranking above the national average for patient safety.
