First Baby of 2018 Welcomed at Williamson Medical Center
FRANKLIN, Tenn.—Proud parents Keri and Chris Buttrey from Fairview welcomed a healthy baby boy at 6:10 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Owen Andrew Buttrey arrived weighing in at six pounds, five ounces, and 19 inches long and was the first baby of 2018 born at Williamson Medical Center. This is the second child for the couple and their second time to deliver at the medical center.
Although Keri’s due date wasn’t until January 19, both parents had a feeling their bundle of joy would arrive much sooner than expected. According to the parents, the family even had a friendly wager going. “My first son, Eric, came early at 37 weeks and Owen arrived at 37 weeks as well,” Keri explained. “We were all guessing that he would either be a Christmas baby or a New Year’s baby.”
Nidhi De, M.D., with Vanderbilt Franklin Women’s Center, was the physician on-call and delivered little baby Owen. “In my first year at WMC, I am thankful to have had the privilege to deliver a healthy, happy first baby of 2018,” De said. “Congratulations to the sweet family.”
The Buttrey family also received another unexpected surprise when they were presented with the hospital’s annual red wagon full of newborn toys and necessities to officially welcome the first baby of the year. “I think it’s pretty cool knowing that he was the first,” said Chris. “Everyone has been very excited and we are ecstatic about the gifts we received.”
The Buttrey family went on to share their appreciation for the excellent care they received. “I had Eric on December 20, 2015, and enjoyed all of the nurses and staff and definitely wanted to come here again and have my second baby,” said Keri.
