Joel Locke, M.D., marks 500th da Vinci® robotic procedure
FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Joel Locke, M.D., is a popular face around the Williamson Medical Center campus. Well respected in his field of urology, Dr. Locke is also on the cutting edge of medicine as a practitioner of robotic-assisted procedures.
Some of those procedures involve the da Vinci® Si system, a specific kind of surgical device. This week, he performed his 500th operation with it!
The milestone was marked by an email from Intuitive Surgical, the makers of the device.
One of the features of the da Vinci® Si is a groundbreaking fluorescence imaging technology, used for the treatment of renal tumors. In 2012, Williamson Medical Center became the first hospital in Middle Tennessee to use the state-of-the-art procedure. Dr. Locke was the person behind the da Vinci® for that operation.
Congratulations on the milestone, Dr. Locke, and for keeping Williamson Medical Center on the forefront of medical technology!
