An Award-Winning Breast Health Facility

Williamson Medical Group has received the 2018 Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s Best Breast Centers for the third year in a row. This is an evidence-based designation reflecting exceptional clinical performance and women’s preferences.

Williamson Medical Center has also been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, and accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), which is a subsidiary of the American College of Surgeons. Williamson Medical Center’s Imaging Center, which is adjacent to the Breast Health Center at 4601 Carothers Parkway in Franklin, provides the majority of outpatient imaging to include biopsies for patient convenience.

By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR, which is the gold standard for radiology, recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound, including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.

Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians who are experts in their field, have determined that WMC’s Breast Health Center has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

“This accreditation means we have attained the highest level of quality,” said Director of Radiology Sharon Cooke. “This is an accreditation that centers strive for because it attests we have reached the highest level of care for our patients and our market. Patients can come here knowing we have reached that pinnacle of success.”

High quality care right here in Williamson County

One recurring question asked by the women considering treatment at Williamson Medical Group’s Breast Health Center is can they have the same procedures performed at the same level of expertise here that they could at some of the bigger facilities in Nashville? The answer is yes.

I was diagnosed at age 36. That helps me guide women. I can give advice both as a professional and a peer because I’ve been through it.

Seeing these ladies grow stronger and come out on the other side of something they didn’t think they could make it through is so exciting for me. I see these women grow through the whole process. I meet them at the beginning and on the other side, I see this courageous, strong individual.

Experience Matters:

Catch breast cancer in its earliest stage or before it even appears:

Since 2007, the Survivor Sisters Program at Williamson Medical Center has provided comfort and encouragement to hundreds of women who have battled breast cancer. Every other month, the women-only group meets at a different restaurant in the Cool Springs area to get together with fellow survivors ranging from recently diagnosed to those who have been cancer free for more than 15 years.
